Emergency Preparedness for Faith-based Organizations

Event Overview
North Carolina has suffered its share of disasters.  Such disasters have forced communities to react when in fact, a better way to handle emergencies and disasters is to prepare.  Preparation should occur at every level, from individual organizations to the community as a whole.  Faith-based organizations play a vital role in preparing for emergencies and disasters.
In September, Durham will offer a free event to provide faith-based organizations with resources to help prepare for and reduce the impact of a small and/or large-scale emergency.   Emergencies may include natural disasters such as a tornado, hurricane; fire and mass casualty events.
This three hour event will connect organizations with resources to prepare in case an emergency. This event will help prepare church leaders and volunteers and provide with information needed to help the community during disaster response and recovery.
This event will also serve as an opportunity to identify additional needs of faith-based organizations and prepare those who may be willing to serve the community in the event of an emergency.
Overall Goal:
To encourage and identify resources to help faith-based organizations proactively prepare for natural disaster and other emergencies
