Contract Approved for New Police Headquarters Complex Engineering Services
The City is continuing its work to ensure that the new Police Headquarters Complex is as high-quality a facility as possible. Major Improvement Projects Get Underway at Durham's Water Treatment Plants
Two major improvement projects are getting underway at Durham's water treatment plants<http://durhamnc.gov/944/Water-Management>. A groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of the multi-million dollar expansion and improvement projects was held at the Brown Water Treatment Plant on October 5.

City Changes the Way Durham Livable Wage Rate is Established
In efforts to provide fair, equitable and competitive compensation for its employees, the City is changing the way the Durham Livable Wage Rate<http://cityordinances.durhamnc.gov/OnBaseAgendaOnline/Documents/ViewDocument/Final-Published%20Attachment%20-%2011399%20-%20MEMO%20-%20ORDINANCE%20REVISION%20-%2010_3_2016.pdf?meetingId=143&documentType=Agenda&itemId=1755&publishId=7716&isSection=false> is established. The City Council approved increasing the lowest full-time hourly wage rate to $14.15 per hour by FY2017-2018 and $15 per hour by FY2018-2019. Find out how that calculation will be determined.

On-Call Contracts Approved For Unscheduled Pipeline System Repairs
In order to provide unscheduled repairs to Durham's pipeline system as quickly as possible, on-call contracts with two outside contractors<http://cityordinances.durhamnc.gov/OnBaseAgendaOnline/Documents/ViewDocument/Final-Published%20Attachment%20-%2011398%20-%20MEMO%20-%20AWARD%20OF%20CONSTRUCTION%20CONTRACTS%20-.pdf?meetingId=143&documentType=Agenda&itemId=1759&publishId=7705&isSection=false> have been approved by the City Council to ensure that at least one contractor is available to respond quickly to an urgent repair.
