The totals for today are not yet in, but about 40,000 people have voted in Durham as of yesterday, and about 7000 more vote every day, so I would guess the total is 47500 or so.

Eight (8) new sites open tomorrow, including one that is 1.1 miles east of the Southern Library on RTP (is you see people shivering in the cold outside the library, just keep coming to the next site). Please show the BOE that the extra sites were a good idea by using them a lot. The lines will likely be shorter and (in the case of the RTP site versus the South Library anyhow, more of the line is inside!).

Judges are getting a mixed message on cellphones -- voters have the right to consult their phones but precinct folks can't tell if they are communicating or taking pictures so they should put up the new sign that says "Don't take pictures or communicate" rather than "no cell phones" but it is OK to assume that any touching your phone is communications so folks can't use cell phones as long as they have a ballot in their possession. They expect new laws on the subject next year.
