As the weather gets cooler and the leaves start to fall, please remember that it is against City ordinance to sweep or blow your leaves and grass onto the sidewalk or into the street. Leaves and grass not only block storm drains and contribute to localized flooding during rain storms, but they are full of nutrients that can be harmful in our creeks, streams and lakes.

Please remember that it is your responsibility to make sure that you, or any landscaping  company that you use, follow these rules. If you see leaves or grass being swept or blown into the sidewalks or street, please report it to 919-560-SWIM. If you would like to participate in the City's Yard Waste Collection program, you can sign up for this fee-based program here: https://durhamnc.gov/891/Yard-Waste.
