Durham Celebrates Successful Return of the Holiday Parade
The City is celebrating what appears to be the successful return of the Holiday Parade<http://durhamnc.gov/2950/Holiday-Parade>. Thousands of people lined the streets of downtown on December 10 to watch the two-hour parade make its way down Main Street. Floats, bands, drill teams, athletic teams, motorcycle clubs, Santa himself and many others marched, drove or rode down the 1.3 mile parade route from Dillard Street to Duke University's East campus.

Parks and Recreation Hosts Annual Kwanzaa Celebration December 30
Durham's annual Kwanzaa<http://durhamnc.gov/1651/Kwanzaa> celebration will be held on Friday, December 30 at the Holton Career and Resource Center. Kwanzaa is a celebration of family, community and culture. Those who attend will learn about the seven centering values of Kwanzaa and be treated to entertainment by local and regional artists.

Parks and Recreation Hosts New Year, New You Program
Durham Parks and Recreation is hosting its New Year, New You program<http://durhamnc.gov/3005/New-Year-New-You> once again this year. Residents are invited to enjoy free fitness activities at recreation and community centers throughout Durham. Program participants can take part in land and water aerobics, martial arts, open gym, swim, dance classes, racquet sports and more.

Police Department Holds Promotions Ceremony
The Durham Police Department is recognizing the accomplishments of some of its own. A promotions ceremony<http://durhamnc.gov/149/Police-Department> was held on December 7 at City Hall. Twenty-eight recently promoted employees were recognized during the ceremony.
