Durham Debuts New Budget Priority Survey for Resident Input
Coffee with Council meetings set for February and March; Online survey available until March 31
DURHAM, N.C. - Durham residents interested in giving their input on how the City of Durham should spend their tax dollars in the coming year now have more ways to provide feedback including a new online survey, Coffee with Council meetings, and upcoming public hearings.
New for this year, residents are encouraged to give their input on how the City spends its resources through a budget priority survey<http://durhamnc.gov/3020/Budget>. From sidewalks and bike lanes to parks and streets, residents can provide their thoughts on what they believe their neighborhoods need. The survey is open now through March 31, 2017.
Residents may also give budget input directly to the City Council<http://durhamnc.gov/1323/City-Council> during the upcoming Coffee with Council meetings, which will also include a presentation on the City's budget outlook for the 2017-2018 fiscal year.
Coffee with Council Meetings
* Saturday, February 11, 10 a.m.-noon, Lyon Park Community Family Life and Recreation Center, 1309 Halley St. (PAC 3)
* Monday, February 13, 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Durham Public Schools Resource Center, 2107 Hillandale Rd. (PAC 2)
* Thursday, March 9, 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., City Hall Committee Room, 101 City Hall Plaza, Second Floor (PAC 5; Spanish translation available)
* Saturday, March 11, 10 a.m.-noon, Campus Hill Recreation Center, 2000 S. Alston Ave. (PAC 4)
* Saturday, March 18, 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m., Holton Career and Resource Center Child Care Center, 401 N. Driver St., Second Floor (PAC 1)
There will also be two public hearings held during regularly scheduled City Council meetings to provide additional opportunities for residents to give their input directly to City Council and City staff. The first public hearing will be Monday, March 6 and the second public hearing will be Monday, June 5. City Manager Tom Bonfield will present his proposed budget for how tax dollars are allocated and his priorities for the upcoming year on Monday, May 15.
