Durham Launches New UDO Search Feature

New Feature Enables Easier Searching and Sharing of Durham's Regulatory Development Document


DURHAM, N.C. - Durham residents, builders, and developers interested in everything from fence standards to zoning regulations to landscaping requirements can now more easily find that information.

The Durham City-County Planning Department has launched a searchable and mobile-friendly feature to its Unified Development Ordinance<http://durhamnc.gov/414/Unified-Development-Ordinance-UDO> (UDO), which can also be found on the Development Services Center website<http://durhamnc.gov/3038/Development-Services-Center>.

The UDO, established in January 2006, is one of the primary regulatory documents for development in Durham County. This new feature allows users to:

*        Search for applicable regulations with ease using quick navigation through direct links to any referenced section, table of contents, and various search features.

*        Share individual sections of the document through email, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms.

*        Define terms through a pop-up box that appears when hovered over.

*        Print or save selected sections.

"We are excited to offer this enhanced service to make the UDO more accessible to our residents and our development customers," said Durham City-County Planning Director Patrick Young.
