Keep Durham Beautiful Announces Weekend Events to Help Pollinators and Puppies
Receive free pollinator plants, build a bee hotel, or pick up litter with adoptable dogs

Durham, NC - (August 9th, 2017) - If you want to help out butterflies, bees or puppies, Keep Durham Beautiful has three different events for you to attend this weekend.

Pop Up! Pollinator Plant Giveaway - Saturday Aug 12, 8 am-noon

As part of its mission to increase pollinator habitat throughout Durham, Keep Durham Beautiful (KDB) will hold a Pop Up! Plant Giveaway<https://www.facebook.com/events/1957552357845377/> featuring starter packs of five pollinator plants free of charge. Pollinators play a crucial role in our food production and their habitats are often threatened by urban development. Providing nectar and pollen sources by planting native pollinator plants is a great way to support our beneficial butterflies, bees, moths, and hummingbird populations To receive your starter pack while supplies last, visit them on Saturday from 8-10 am at the South Durham Farmers' Market<http://www.southdurhamfarmersmarket.org>, 5410 North Carolina 55, Durham, or 10:30 am-12 pm at the Green Flea Market<http://www.durhamgreenfleamarket.com>, 1600 E Pettigrew St, Durham.

Bees + Brews - Saturday August 12, 5-7 pm

Join KDB at Durty Bull Brewing Company<http://www.durtybull.com/> to build bee hotels at our Bees + Brews<https://www.facebook.com/events/926563754150872/> event. Bee hotels promote pollinator biodiversity by providing homes for native, solitary bee species that may not produce honey but are essential for fruit, vegetable, flower, and plant production. Tickets are $25 and include all building supplies, instructions, and one beer. The event is 21+ and pre-registration is required on the website<http://keepdurhambeautiful.org/event/bee-hotels/> with limited seating. Meet at Durty Bull Brewing Company<http://www.durtybull.com>, 206 Broadway St #104, Durham, NC 27701, on Saturday evening from 5-7 pm.

Pick Up with Pups Litter Clean Up, Sunday August 13, 9-11 am

To beautify our community by reducing litter, KDB is partnering with Animal Protection Services of Durham<http://www.apsofdurham.org> (APS) to host a Pick Up with Pups Litter Clean Up<https://keepdurhambeautiful.org/event/pick-up-with-pups-litter-clean-up/>. Volunteers will clean up the 1.5-mile East Campus Wall Trail that circles Duke University's East Campus while meeting adorable adoptable dogs from the APS of Durham. Enjoy light exercise with family, friends and dogs while making a difference this Sunday morning. This free event is open to all ages. Meet at 9 am on the trail across from the Domino's located at 1209 W Main St, Durham.
