TOWN HALL MEETING TO TAKE ACTION TO PROTECT KIDS FROM LEAD
Tuesday, October 24 6:00-8:00 at Holton


Hello Community Leader and Friend,


Thank you so much for your continued interest in protecting children from lead-based paint hazards, especially during renovation, repair, and painting activities in older homes. It bears repeating that lead poisoning in children causes life-long health, learning, and behavioral problems; and that children are exposed to lead through normal hand-to-mouth activities. Even so, the laws for North Carolina are reactionary - a child has to be poisoned and then the law comes into play - this isn't right. 
  



Join Partnership Effort for the Advancement of Children's Health (PEACH), Community Residents, Reinvestment Partners, Durham County Health Department, and the Durham Community Lead Coalition at a Town Hall Meeting to discuss: 

HOW to STOP using children to identify lead-based paint hazards
WHAT can be done to enforce current laws that govern contractors and that are designed to protect children when repairs are done in older houses. 
WHAT should be in a Durham Community Action Plan
