I believe that documentary film “Ex Libris: New York Public Library” presents strong arguments for why public libraries should be supported and the various roles that libraries play in communities (with the same reasoning holding true for school libraries). The film includes excerpts of readings and administrators asserting the functions of libraries. The film holds your attention as it moves to various libraries, the users and staff in New York.
