Additional Downtown Sewer Line Work to Begin April 2

March 29, 2018



Due to recurrent debris in the sanitary sewer system, the City of Durham Department of Water Management will complete additional cleaning and CCTV inspections of sewer lines along sections of Rigsbee Avenue, Mangum Street, and Morgan Street (near the new downtown parking garage construction site). This is in response to a backup that occurred in early January, followed by cursory investigations and cleanings in late January and early February.



This work is scheduled to begin Monday, April 2 and finish on Wednesday, April 4. Work hours are scheduled for 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day. Beginning Monday, April 9, workers will add lining to this section of sewer system for added resiliency. That work is expected to finish on Wednesday, April 11, with work hours also lasting from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day. A map of the work area (highlighted in red) is attached.



Motorists are asked to drive with caution in work areas. Thank you for your cooperation during this work.
