Central Park Waterline Replacement Project Update and Two-Week Look Ahead

May 31, 2018

The City appreciates your ongoing patience with the work along the busy corridors associated with the Central Park Waterline Replacement Project.  Additional information regarding this project can be found at: http://durhamnc.gov/1251/Durham-Central-Park-Waterline-Replacement.

Planned Road / Lane Closures will occur as follows:

  *   Week of 6/4:
     *   Intersection of Rigsbee Avenue and Seminary Avenue will be closed.
     *   Intersection of Foster Street and Seminary Avenue will be closed.
     *   Seminary Avenue will be closed between Foster Street and Rigsbee Avenue.
     *   Fernway Avenue will be closed between Fuller Street and North Duke Street.
     *   Liggett Street, Fuller Street, Corporation Street between North Duke and Foster Street, and Foster Street between Corporation Street and W Morgan Street may be closed temporarily for milling and repaving as equipment becomes available.


  *   Week of 6/11:
     *   Intersection of Rigsbee Avenue and Seminary Avenue will be closed.
     *   Intersection of Foster Street and Seminary Avenue will be closed.
     *   Rigsbee Avenue southbound will be closed between Corporation Street and Broadway Avenue.
     *   Seminary Avenue will be closed between Foster Street and Rigsbee Avenue.
     *   Fernway Avenue will be closed between Fuller Street and North Duke Street.
     *   Liggett Street, Fuller Street, Corporation Street between North Duke and Foster Street, and Foster Street between Corporation Street and W Morgan Street may be closed temporarily for milling and repaving as equipment becomes available.

Week of June 4, 2018:

  *   Seminary Avenue will be closed as water line installation continues.

     *   Traffic control signs and markings will be used for all traffic detours.
     *   Sidewalk traffic will be disrupted.
     *   Noise levels in excess of the current City noise ordinance are anticipated during work hours.
     *   On-street parking will be closed in work areas.
     *   Planned work hours are 7 AM to 6 PM.
     *   Residents and business owners will be contacted in advance of any service disruptions.

  *   Fernway Avenue will be closed as water line installation begins.

     *   Traffic control signs and markings will be used for all traffic detours.
     *   Flaggers will be utilized for traffic control.
     *   Sidewalk traffic will be disrupted.
     *   Noise levels in excess of the current City noise ordinance are anticipated during work hours.
     *   On-street parking will be closed in work areas.
     *   Planned work hours are 7 AM to 6 PM.
     *   No water or sewer service disruptions are anticipated.

  *   Periodic one-lane interruptions will occur on Corporation Street between Foster Street and North Duke Street as water services are connected to the new water line.

     *   Flaggers will be utilized for traffic control.
     *   Sidewalk traffic will be disrupted.
     *   Noise levels in excess of the current City noise ordinance are anticipated during work hours.
     *   On-street parking will be closed in work areas.
     *   Planned work hours are 7 AM to 6 PM.
     *   Residents and business owners will be contacted in advance of any service disruptions.
  *   Residents and business owners on Hunt Street between Mangum Street and Rigsbee Avenue may be contacted about testing for sanitary sewer connections.
     *   Planned work hours are 7 AM to 6 PM.
     *   Residents and business owners will be contacted in advance of any service disruptions.

Saturday - Sunday June 9-10, 2018:

     *   No work planned.

Week of June 11, 2018:
