Durham Updates Solid Waste Collection Schedule Due to Monday Morning’s Severe Weather
Today’s Collections to Focus on Garbage and Recycling Only; Yard Waste & Bulky Services Suspended Today

DURHAM, N.C. - The City of Durham Solid Waste Management Department is making another collections schedule change for yard waste and bulky items customers due to today’s heavy rains and flash flooding, which closed numerous streets throughout Durham.

Yard waste and bulky services customers not collected on Thursday, September 13 and Friday, September 14 will not be serviced today as previously announced in order to allow crews to focus on garbage and recycling collections only.

Normal weekly collection for all yard waste and bulky services customers will now start on Tuesday, September 18. Thursday and Friday customers missed last week will receive their regularly scheduled collections on their normal pick-up day this week.

Curbside collections are now slowly underway to collect garbage and recycling customers not collected on Thursday, September 13. As a reminder, this means that collection for all garbage and recycling customers who receive curbside services is still delayed by one business day for this entire week as follows:

·        Monday garbage and recycling customers – Tuesday, September 18 collection

·        Tuesday garbage and recycling customers – Wednesday, September 19 collection

·        Wednesday garbage and recycling customers  – Thursday, September 20 collection
·        Thursday garbage and recycling customers  – Friday, September 21 collection

Additionally, the City’s Waste Disposal and Recycling Center (Transfer Station), located 2115 E. Club Boulevard, is open today and operating under normal hours.
