Durham Hosts Hillandale Road Bike & Pedestrian Facilities Meeting

Drop-In Style Meeting to Collect Resident Input on Preferred Alternative Design Plan



DURHAM, N.C. ¨C If you travel along Hillandale Road in Durham, you¡¯ll want to mark your calendar for a meeting later this month to review the preferred alternative for bicycle and pedestrian designs for this busy road.



The City of Durham Public Works Department has prepared the preferred alternative design for bicycle and pedestrian facilities<https://durhamnc.gov/3220/Design-Services-for-Hillandale-Rd-SW-46D> along Hillandale Road from I-85 to the NC Highway 147, and staff wants to share their work to date and get resident input.



The drop-in style meeting is set for Thursday, November 29 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the E.K. Powe Elementary School Media Center Room 226, located at 913 9th Street, Durham. Residents will be able to review the preferred alternative design, ask questions of Public Works staff, and provide input before the department completes the final design work. For residents who can¡¯t attend the November 29 meeting, maps and a comment form to collect their feedback will be available on the project website<https://durhamnc.gov/3220/Design-Services-for-Hillandale-Rd-SW-46D> on November 29.



This is a bicycle and pedestrian project only, so it will not include road widening to expand the traffic capacity or the intersections within this corridor. This is the third community meeting to collect resident input for this project. The first meeting was held in January 2018, and the second in June 2018. This will be the last community input meeting for this project.
