Durham Hosts Carpenter-Fletcher Road Proposed Sidewalk & Bicycle Facilities Meeting
Drop-In Style Meeting to Collect Resident Input on Design Plans

DURHAM, N.C. - If you travel along Carpenter-Fletcher Road in Durham, you’ll want to mark your calendar for a meeting early next month to discuss bicycle and pedestrian designs<https://durhamnc.gov/3230/Design-Services-for-Carpenter-Fletcher-S> for this roadway.

The City of Durham Public Works Department is now in the 65 percent design phase for bicycle and pedestrian facilities along Carpenter-Fletcher Road from E. Woodcroft Parkway to S. Alston Avenue, and City staff wants to share their work and receive community input. The goal of the project is to improve bicycle and pedestrian accommodations with proposed improvements including curbs and gutters, bike lanes, bike lane buffers, and sidewalks.

The drop-in style meeting is set for Tuesday, December 4 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Durham County South Regional Library (left-side meeting room), located at 4505 S. Alston Ave. Residents will be able to review the 65 percent design plans showing right-of-way, temporary, and permanent easements; ask questions of Public Works staff; and provide input before the department completes the final design plans.

For residents who cannot attend this meeting, handouts and a comment form to collect online feedback will be available after the December 4 meeting date on the project website<https://durhamnc.gov/3230/Design-Services-for-Carpenter-Fletcher-S>, and feedback is due by Tuesday, December 18.
