Most City of Durham Offices Closed for Independence Day
Residents Asked to Note Changes in City-Provided Services & Programs

DURHAM, N.C. - Most City of Durham offices, including City Hall and other non-emergency City operations, will be closed Thursday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day<https://durhamnc.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=1926>. Police, fire, and rescue services for life-threatening or in-progress emergencies may be reached by calling 911. Non-emergency concerns may be directed to (919) 560-4600. Residents are asked to take note of the following changes in other City services and programs.

Solid Waste, Recycling, Yard Waste, and Bulky Services Curbside Collections
The Solid Waste Management Department<https://durhamnc.gov/832/Solid-Waste-Management> will be closed on July 4. Curbside collections for all services, including solid waste, recycling, yard waste and bulky items, will be delayed by one business day beginning July 4. Thursday garbage and recycling customers will receive collections on Friday, July 5. Curbside collections for yard waste and bulky items on July 4 will instead occur on Friday, July 5. Friday yard waste and bulky items customers will receive collections on Monday, July 8. The Waste Disposal & Recycling Center, Yard Waste Facility, and the Household Hazardous Waste Center<https://durhamnc.gov/898/Disposal-Facilities> will also be closed on July 4. Durham Parks & Recreation
Durham Parks & Recreation<https://www.dprplaymore.org/> will close its administrative office, all recreation centers, all indoor rental sites, and City lakes on July 4. Outdoor pools, spray grounds, and parks will be open as regularly scheduled on July 4. Water Management
Normal operating hours for the Water Management Department's Water and Sewer Maintenance Division are from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Water main break<https://durhamnc.gov/1344/Report-Water-Main-Breaks> and sewer overflow<https://durhamnc.gov/1346/Report-Sewer-Overflows-Backups> calls for service placed after-hours, weekends, or on City-recognized holidays should be directed to the department's after-hours emergency phone number at (919) 560-4344, which will dispatch on-call crews. Durham One Call
Durham One Call<https://durhamnc.gov/1439/Durham-One-Call> will be closed on July 4. Residents may submit a service request using the free smartphone app available in the Apple<https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/durham-one-call/id1201890986?mt=8> and Google Play<https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.accela.durham_nc&hl=en> stores, complete and submit an online service request<https://durhamnc.gov/1439/Durham-One-Call>, or leave a message at (919) 560-1200. Durham One Call will forward all requests for City services to the appropriate department on the next business day.

GoDurham and GoDurham ACCESS
GoDurham<http://godurhamtransit.org/> and GoDurham ACCESS<http://godurhamtransit.org/access> will operate under its Sunday-level service schedules<https://godurhamtransit.org/holiday-hours> on July 4, but administrative offices will be closed.
