Done! Out to Northgate and Colonial village, also Walltown, Stadium, Duke
Homestead, West Murray Broad, and Duke Park, whom I'm signed onto but who
don't have delegates to INC presently.

Let know if wanting any cross posting to Nextdoor. Cheers, Debra

Durham is 150 years old this year and it's Halloween! Get in the spirit of
the season and engage with Durham's history by taking a tour of historic
Maplewood Cemetery Saturday, October 26, or Sunday, October 27, from 1 until
5 p.m.

Maplewood was created in 1872 as Durham's very first public amenity. The
cemetery is Durham's very first public space and its very first planned
space. It is a garden of memories and our oldest repository of public art.
In Maplewood are buried captains of industry, famous educators, great
philanthropists, and ordinary people. In the cemetery are reposed the
origins of many Durham legends and icons. There are stories of war and
disease and the struggle against both. There are stories of love and of
prejudice, of triumph and tragedy. Learn about funerary customs and grave
architecture. Enjoy the beauty, peace, and solemnity of one of the city's
great historic treasures.

The tour is divided into a number of loops led by knowledgeable guides.
Each loop circles continuously so you won't miss anything. Come any time
after 1 and before 3:30 and join any loop in progress. Each loop takes a
little more than an hour. You can do more than one loop or move between
loops.

Dress for cool weather and wear sensible shoes. There will be drinking
water on hand, but there are no restrooms. Keep that in mind and come
prepared.

When: Saturday and Sunday, October 26-27, 2019 - 1 pm to 5:00 pm
Where: The Historic Section of Maplewood Cemetery - 815 Kent Street, Durham
Online ticket price: $12.09/person (includes fees + sales tax)
Or just show up at the cemetery on either day of the tour: $10.75/person
(includes sales tax) cash only, please.

Preservation Durham hosts the tour. To buy tickets in advance, visit
