Please cascade this to neighborhood list-serves if you think it is useful.

So far 12,654 (5.56% of registered voters) people have used early voting. For cool graphs of voting patterns: https://www.dconc.gov/Home/ShowDocument?id=30328. The full schedule of early voting is at https://www.dconc.gov/Home/ShowDocument?id=29854.

Voting is picking up, but it took 7 day to get to the same number as voted in 4 days in 2016. Someone compared this election to putting dots on lists of ideas at a meeting -- people hang back until patterns emerge, so they don't end up voting for something that almost no-one else likes. For the next week, voters will need to trade off lines, weather, and how much information is available.

I don't think the pictures on the website about voting at Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (ERUUF) are all that helpful. Voting is in the building at the back of the campus, so if you just keep driving to the back of the campus, you'll see plenty of signs directing you to the voting area.

The election folks are excited about "real-time mapping tool" that shows the wait time at each site (http://durhamnc.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=3ba5733d5de645debd6e6089e92c7f32) so you can see where to go for the least waiting time. It is supposed to be updated every 30 minutes. Early and late in the day are good times to avoid crowds, so far.

For some sites, the bottleneck is how many people can be in the act of voting at the same time. Get your sample ballot by looking yourself up at https://vt.ncsbe.gov/RegLkup/ (you can carry in your list of choices on your phone).

Some places to look for information on the candidates:

  *   All races: http://onyourballot.vote411.org/race-index.do?c=21249203
  *   <http://onyourballot.vote411.org/race-index.do?c=21249203> NC House 20: https://www.newsobserver.com/news/politics-government/election/article240410021.html
  * State-wide races: https://www.accessthevotenc.org/2020primary/ (it is from.an organization that works on disability rights so the questions don't cover a lot of areas, but is the only non-partisan site I could find)
  * County Commissioners and Board of Education: https://sites.duke.edu/dukevotes/explore-your-ballot/ (it has other races, but there isn't necessarily much on the candidates)

If you want to use Ballots by Mail, you have until Tuesday. The information is at http://www.dcovotes.com/voters/voting/absentee-voting (this has been available for the last month). To return the ballot, either mail it or make sure it is being carried in by you or a "near relative" (there is an official list of what counts as "near").

Regards, pat
