Based on a convo I’ve had w/DP & Mary about Covid-on-surfaces issues, good to review & track new data related to shopping, deliveries, curbside pickups, pet’s body surfaces, and all public amenities. Considerations for things coming into the home, lending protocols between friends, etc.

This is what the NPR article says as well, 24 hours on cardboard. However, we don't have any information about a surface that is closed inside a book, like a book page, which is going to be different from something in the open air. One of my coworkers suggests three days total fanned open in a place with UV light for books. For those not concerned about books and paper for reading, this news is important when it comes to packages arriving to your home and precautions you may want to take. Leaving the cardboard box in the sun for UV light exposure would help, at a minimum.

How long does this coronavirus live on surfaces or outside of the body?


A new study <https://https/www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.03.09.20033217v1.full.pdf>  found that SARS-CoV-2 (the official name of the new coronavirus that causes COVID-19) may last for a few hours or several days on surfaces and several hours in the air under experimental conditions. The study found it can last up to 4 hours on copper, up to 24 hours on cardboard, and up to 2 to 3 days on plastic and stainless steel.
