[Durham INC] Fwd: New tools to improve the voting by mail process in NC

Several new items are available now to ease the voting by mail process.

1 - The Durham Board of Elections has a tent up at their office until 3 pm
each day to allow voters to bring their ballots or absentee request forms
or voter registration forms to them without having to go inside. (as
weather allows)

2 . There are two ways to review your ballot status on line now.
- The traditional way is to look yourself up in NC Voter Search - click on
your name and go to your voter page. The bottom tab is absentee ballot area
and it will show when your ballot is accepted at your Board of Elections
- a new software went on line yesterday (BallotTrax) that will send you an
email or text or voicemail as your ballot goes through the return process.
I just signed up and it told me that my ballot had been mailed to me so
step 1 of 4 is complete. Very cool. This software has already been in use
in several states for several cycles.

3. You can now request a ballot be mailed to you from an online page that
is easier and quicker than asking for and returning a paper request. And
you get immediate confirmation that your request has been accepted.

4. There is a great video explaining what happens to your ballot once it
arrives at the Board of Elections. Durham Board may meet twice a week
starting Sept 29. Election Day board meeting in Durham starts at 2 pm.
Otherwise, the process is the same as Brunswick County.

PS - I am proud and amazed that NC upped it's vote by mail skills so
quickly in response to Covid. Fast work!
PPS - Early Voting in person starts October 15 and you can vote at any of
