Durham Hosts Cornwallis Road Sidewalk & Bicycle Improvements Virtual Meeting

DURHAM, N.C. - If you live, work, or travel along Cornwallis Road in Durham, you'll want to mark your calendar now for a virtual meeting<https://durhamnc.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=2638> next month to discuss bicycle and pedestrian designs for this busy roadway.

The City of Durham Public Works Department is now preparing designs for bicycle and pedestrian improvements along Cornwallis Road<https://durhamnc.gov/3231/Design-Services-for-Cornwallis-Road-SW-4> from South Roxboro Street to Chapel Hill Road, and City staff wants to share their work and receive community input. The goal of the project is to improve bicycle and pedestrian accommodations with the proposed improvements including curb and gutter, bike lanes, and sidewalks.

To seek input for this stage of the project and explain the proposed designed created with public input collected earlier this year, the department is hosting a virtual community information meeting<https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJcqce6hqjMoE9QPeC14s7iUk3kKyPcBIUSi> on Thursday, November 5 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to provide a project overview and explanation of the project design. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation. Participants are asked to register<https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJcqce6hqjMoE9QPeC14s7iUk3kKyPcBIUSi> in advance for this online meeting to receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to join on November 5.

For residents who cannot attend this meeting, maps and an online comment form to collect their feedback will be available after the meeting date on the project website<https://durhamnc.gov/3231/Design-Services-for-Cornwallis-Road-SW-4>, with input due by Thursday, November 19.
