[Durham INC] Early and absentee voting

Worth understanding: Adding data from my call to Board of Elections that
they will not define the status 'accepted by your elections board' on
BallotTrax as meaning it is flaw-free and in the 'to be tablulated' pile,
they direct the caller to speak to state board of elections for a
definition. Given the 1,000+ mailed ballots reported in news to have
concerns associated that prevent their being counted, you may wish to
contact Durham BoE (select option 2, absentee enquiries) and check directly
with someone during business hours, who can quickly pull up your info online
and more precisely confirm ballot status. I know that they are going to be
busy. But if your ballot has any question (damaged in transit etc) and you
missed a voicemail or a letter from BoE to you never got delivered by the
postal system (or shows up after the election) , you only have till 5pm next
Tuesday to find out and make a remedy, at one stop or your precinct (too
late for another absentee ballot to get to you and back via mail).
I called, they took less than two minutes, mine was one delivered by USPS in
correct and serviceable condition without flaw or mishap, and is officially
reviewed/accepted by the BoE panel for tabulation. I can assure you that
imho I was glad I clarified this and found out about the BallotTrax matter.
Your mileage may vary, but sharing what I've learned for those interested.
Feel free to share or cross post and as always, go to the Board of Elections
website or call to verify anything mentioned in this note, as status of
procedures and circumstances with the elections process are subject to
change. Only the board has the latest and most accurate information.

Subject: [Durham INC] Early and absentee voting
So far 2 out of 5 registered voters in Durham County have used One Stop
Voting at one of the 14 sites. I don't have statistics on how many
Absentee-by-Mail ballots have been turned in, but the total of votes already
cast is well over 1/2.
One-Stop Voting ends at 3PM on Saturday. You can check the status of your
registration at https://vt.ncsbe.gov/RegLkup/; if you aren't registered in
Durham County and want to vote this year, you need to (re-)register at One
Stop Voting.
The libraries have about 10 booths at their sites due to social distancing
constraints, so you might want to leave it to other folks to maintain the
tradition of standing in long lines in the cold at South Library. You can
see where the shortest lines are at

If you used Absentee-by-Mail voting, you can check the status of your ballot
either using BallotTrax (https://northcarolina.ballottrax.net/voter/) or the
absentee tab at the voter look-up site (

http://durhamnc.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=3ba5733d5de6
45debd6e6089e92c7f32). Some folks are getting confusing letters about
issues with their Absentee-by-Mail ballots; Durham County Board of Elections
has an absentee team to talk these folks through their options; just call
the BOE (919-560-0700) and ask for the absentee team.
Regards, pat
