BOCC to Hold December 7th Work Session Virtually
New Board to be sworn in prior to meeting; Citizens can watch online

Durham, N.C. - Due to the ongoing social distancing restrictions in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Durham Board of County Commissioners will continue to hold its meetings virtually. The next Work Session to be held this way is on Monday, December 7, 2020, at 9 a.m.

The virtual option aligns with social distancing requirements which ensure the safety of citizens who wish to participate as well as Board members and Durham County Government staff. Citizens who wish to view the BOCC meeting can watch live on the County's website<https://www.dconc.gov/government/departments-a-e/board-of-commissioners/commissioner-meetings/bocc-live-archived-media-library> or on the County's YouTube channel<http://www.youtube.com/dcowebmaster>.

The meeting will feature the election of the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Board for 2021. This will also be the first meeting of the new Board, comprised of returning members Heidi Carter, Brenda Howerton and Wendy Jacobs, and newly elected members Nida Allam and Nimasheena Burns. The swearing in of the County's first all-female Board in its 139-year history will occur Monday morning prior to the Work Session. Each member will do so in a socially distanced individual ceremony. Those who wish to watch the swearing in of the Board members can do so live on our Facebook page<http://www.facebook.com/durhamcountygov>, beginning at approximately 7:15 a.m.

Due to the nature of the meeting, there will not be a citizen comment period during the December 7th Work Session. Citizens will be able to submit comments for the December 14th Regular Session.
