2021-2022 DPS Kindergarten Enrollment opens TODAY!

Any child who will turn 5 by August 31 should register for kindergarten! In
our Transition to Kindergarten Toolkit for Families, you will find
information and forms to help you register.

The transition to kindergarten is one of the most significant events in a
young child’s life. It sets the tone for his or her entire educational
experience and lays the foundation for future success in school. A smooth
transition to kindergarten is a shared responsibility among many
individuals and institutions, and the Transition to Kindergarten (TTK)
Initiative, a collaboration between Durham Public Schools and Durham’s
Partnership for Children, builds connections that prepare parents,
children, and schools for a successful transition to kindergarten. It is
our goal that all children in Durham will enter kindergarten feeling
excited, ready to learn, and supported by their schools, families, and
community!
