Watch the March episode of ‘In Touch with Durham County’
March guests talk Durham Pre-K and Cooperative Extension programs and services

Durham, N.C. – Thanks to Zoom, the Durham County Public Information Office continues to bring residents who are also social distancing important information on our programs and services with the “In Touch with Durham County” show for March 2021. The show is available to watch on the DCo YouTube channel here<https://youtu.be/1TtwICK0lk4>.

In this month’s episode, host Deborah Craig-Ray, General Manager of Strategic Planning and Innovation, welcomes a Dr. Linda Chappel, Senior Vice President, Triangle Area Child Care Resources and Referral Services, and Donna Rewalt, Director of the Durham County Cooperative Extension.

Dr. Chappel joins us to discuss all things Durham Pre-K<https://durhamprek.org/about/> during the opening segment. Durham County contracts with Child Care Services Association (CCSA) to manage our local investment in public preschool for 4-year-olds. Durham Pre-K is open universally to all children in Durham County and is committed to meeting the full community need for publicly supported high quality early education. The program is currently accepting applications for the 2021-2022 school year.

In segment two, Rewalt returns to our program to talk about how the Cooperative Extension<https://durham.ces.ncsu.edu/> has responded to the unique challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic in delivering services to the community. She discusses the critical role the Extension staff and local partners have had in providing food and nutrition assistance to our community, as well as how other vital programs have innovated during the pandemic.
