[Durham INC] Thoughful doctor comments on CDC guide and its (unexplained) metrics changes

Just for those interested, a link to a smart epidemiologist doing good work
for the public's understanding over the pandemic who looks at the recent
CDC county ratings system for Covid mitigation measures and the 'retooling'
of their chosen figures for that chart, and other concerns/considerations.
Note especially the coloring of the US map if their prior guidance to
address the pathogen is applied...the lack of rationale for the new much
higher threshold numbers...and for a special quiz, what's the problem with
a guide chart that is designed to prevent serious hospital outcomes only,
and not containment of infection/transmission of a deadly and rapidly
mutatable, record high transmissible pathogen?
--------------------------
Note also the many CDC chart advisories for the 'high risk' population (9
million strong plus their families/friends)....now that they're on their
own in a sea of deadly aerosol, with limited access to new therapies (not
enough doses yet) or vaccines (none if you're under 5 yrs of age). What
does a humane society owe the disabled? Or kids, elders, the 'extra deaths'
group that perishes as a side consequence of the pandemic effect from lack
of access to care, food/shelter or needed interventions? Those deaths are
in the hundreds of thousands too, and still going.
----------------------------
This can help inform the thinking (and ethical) person's thoughts on PPE &
optional social activity strategies. You won't always know or meet the
people who die from the bug you unknowingly pass on. People (or yes, kids)
that someone loved or depended on.
