City of Durham to Observe Labor Day



DURHAM, N.C. - The City of Durham will observe the upcoming Labor Day holiday<https://www.durhamnc.gov/calendar.aspx?EID=6868> on Monday, September 5. Most City offices, including City Hall and all non-emergency City operations, will be closed to the public.



Garbage, Recycling, and Yard Waste Collections

The Solid Waste Management Department will be closed on Monday, September 5.

*         All curbside collections for garbage, recycling, and yard waste will be delayed by one business day this week with Friday yard waste customers receiving their curbside collections on Monday, September 12.

*         The Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, Yard Waste Facility, and the Household Hazardous Waste Center<https://durhamnc.gov/898/Disposal-Facilities> will also be closed on Monday, September 5.

City Council Meeting

The City Council meeting<https://www.durhamnc.gov/Calendar.aspx?EID=6581> is re-scheduled for Tuesday, September 6 beginning at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall.

Parks and Recreation

Durham Parks and Recreation<https://www.dprplaymore.org/> will close its administrative office and all facilities on Monday, September 5.

*         City Lakes will be open under their normal schedules from Friday, September 2 through Monday, September 5.

*         Hillside Pool and Sprayground will be open from Saturday, September 3 through Monday, September 5 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Parking

The Park Durham Customer Service Center<https://www.parkdurham.org/> will be closed on Monday, September 5. On City-designated holidays, downtown parking is free in on-street parking spaces, City-owned parking garages, and City-owned surface parking lots.

GoDurham

Water and Sewer Emergencies

Water main break<https://durhamnc.gov/1344/Report-Water-Main-Breaks> and sewer overflow<https://durhamnc.gov/1346/Report-Sewer-Overflows-Backups> calls for service placed after-hours, weekends or on City-recognized holidays should be directed to the Water Management Department's after-hours emergency phone number at (919) 560-4344, which will dispatch on-call crews.
