Tune In to the September 'In Touch with Durham County' Show
Latest episode features Board Chair Brenda Howerton

Durham, N.C. - The Durham County Public Information Office continues to bring residents important information on our programs and services with the "In Touch with Durham County" show for September 2022<https://youtu.be/CrJTt2rlIF8>.

The show is available to watch on the DCo YouTube channel here<https://youtu.be/CrJTt2rlIF8>; as well as on the Durham County Government website<https://www.dconc.gov/county-departments/departments-f-z/public-information/the-durham-county-government-show> and the Durham Television Network<https://durhamnc.gov/1104/Durham-Television-Network>.

In this month's episode<https://youtu.be/CrJTt2rlIF8>, host Deborah Craig-Ray, General Manager of Strategic Planning and Innovation, welcomes Board of County Commissioners Chair Brenda Howerton back on the show for the first time since early 2021.

A lot of work has been done by the historic all-female BOCC in that time, including the hiring of Dr. Kimberly J. Sowell as Durham County Manager. Howerton discusses what drove her into a life of public service, which includes being elected to the BOCC four times - the first in 2008. During her tenure, Howerton has served as the President of the North Carolina Association of Counties and assumed leadership roles with the National Association of Counties. All of which have helped her lead efforts to improve the lives of residents of Durham County.

The Chair also highlights priorities of the current Board's work in the Fiscal Year 2022-2023 budget ordinance - including education for our youngest residents from Pre-K to career, equity and inclusion, economic prosperity and Durham County Government's most important asset: its employees. She also looks toward the future with the upcoming 2022 General Obligation Bond Referendum on the November 8 ballot.

It's a jam-packed episode full of important updates and information from Chair Howerton, we hope you enjoy!
