*HARVEST FESTIVAL - SUNDAY, OCTOBER 9, 1-4 PM*
Celebrate the bounty of autumn with a free festival of activities, music,
demonstrations, and more in the Charlotte Brody Discovery Garden. This free
event for all ages features:
- the Durham Beekeepers
- Science with Stormie Daie
- The Music Lab with Mr. Steve
- food preservation activities led by the Museum of Life and Science and
SLICE325
- an exciting new “self-discovery” area in the story circle featuring a
rotating collection from the Liberation Station Black Lit Library
- the opportunity to hear a book from the Black Lit library collection
read aloud every 30 minutes by Victoria Scott Miller of Liberation Station
- the reveal of Claire Alexandre's portrait of Stormie Daie, on display
in the story circle
Join us at 1 p.m. for a ribbon cutting to celebrate the story circle
changes, or at any time between 1 and 4 p.m. to enjoy the festivities.
*ARTIST TALK - SUNDAY, OCTOBER 23, 4-6 PM*
Celebrate Claire Alexandre’s new portrait of Stormie Daie on display in the
Story Circle at Duke Gardens! Learn more from the painter and subject about
this collaboration and what having this portrait in the garden means to
them. Connect with the garden and a community of people over conversation
and refreshments.
