* Are you a local artist interested in participating in public art projects? If so, the Public Art Committee wants to hear from you by November 1<https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PACArtistSurvey> on how it can better provide public art training and resources for our local artist community.

* As we continue to work to create connected, walkable, and pedestrian-friendly communities, we want to make sure your input is included<https://durham.mysocialpinpoint.com/growthmanagement/land-use-home> in the process. We share some of the latest ways we are trying to do that and how you can provide feedback by October 31.

* Residents and visitors will soon be able to take advantage of downtown's new designation as a social district<https://cityordinances.durhamnc.gov/OnBaseAgendaOnline/Documents/ViewDocument/Final-Published%20Attachment%20-%2015769%20-%20PRESENTATION%20-%202%20-%20PRESENTATION%20ON%20SOCIAL.pdf?meetingId=552&documentType=Agenda&itemId=30509&publishId=151571&isSection=false>. This designation will allow people to responsibly consume an alcoholic drink as they walk through downtown.

* We now know what it would take to be able to re-open the former Wheels Skating Center<https://cityordinances.durhamnc.gov/OnBaseAgendaOnline/Documents/ViewDocument/WS-Published%20Attachment%20-%2015752%20-%20PRESENTATION%20-%205%20-%20ATTACHMENT%20D%20-%20PRESENTA.pdf?meetingId=551&documentType=Agenda&itemId=30143&publishId=148096&isSection=false>. Durham Parks and Recreation bought the site in 2020, and have been exploring what updates would be required to bring the facility up to code and accessibility standards to re-open it.

* Thanks to Book Harvest, Durham is becoming the City of Books. The organization will use nearly $343,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds<https://cityordinances.durhamnc.gov/OnBaseAgendaOnline/Documents/ViewDocument/Final-Published%20Attachment%20-%2015745%20-%20MEMO%20-%201%20-%20MEMO%20-%2010_17_2022.pdf?meetingId=552&documentType=Agenda&itemId=30300&publishId=151527&isSection=false> to fill neighborhoods most affected by COVID-19 with new Book Boxes.
