City of Durham Announces Service Changes for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day



DURHAM, N.C. - Most City of Durham offices, including City Hall and all non-emergency City facilities and operations, will be closed to the public on Monday, January 16 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day<https://www.durhamnc.gov/Calendar.aspx?EID=7876>.



Curbside Solid Waste Collections

  *   The Solid Waste Management Department<https://durhamnc.gov/832/Solid-Waste-Management> will be closed on Monday, January 16.
  *   Curbside garbage, recycling, and yard waste collections will have a one-day delay with Friday yard waste customers receiving their curbside collections on Monday, January 23.
  *   The Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, Yard Waste Facility, and the Household Hazardous Waste Center<https://durhamnc.gov/898/Disposal-Facilities> will be closed on Monday, January 16.

City Council Meeting

  *   The City Council regular business meeting<https://www.durhamnc.gov/Calendar.aspx?EID=6598> is re-scheduled for Tuesday, January 17 beginning at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall.

  *   The department will host an MLK Day Event: Celebrating the Legacy Through the Arts<https://www.dprplaymore.org/Calendar.aspx?EID=3216&month=1&year=2023&day=27&calType=0> on Saturday, January 14 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at W.D. Hill Recreation Center, 1308 Fayetteville St. This free event will commemorate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Downtown Parking

  *   The Park Durham Customer Service Center<https://www.parkdurham.org/> will be closed on Monday, January 16.
  *   On City-designated holidays, downtown parking is free in on-street parking spaces, in some City-owned parking garages, and in City-owned surface parking lots.

Water and Sewer Emergencies
