Research shows that children are healthier and happier when they are connected with nature—and schools are the perfect place to create green spaces that every child can learn and play in. Transforming schoolyards into thriving, nature-rich environments not only improves children's education and health outcomes, it can also inspire communities to reimagine how entire neighborhoods can be designed to benefit all of us and the environment.

What can we learn from schools in Chile and other countries that offer valuable insights on how to turn concrete playgrounds into nature-filled spaces that bring communities together, improve child development, and help us build a more sustainable and equitable future for all in the United States?

Join us on April 28 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. ET for our webinar Reimagined in America: Transforming Communities Through Nature<https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://click.rwjfmail.org/?qs=bbff0e29bdbef0816132314f6e01c2a6b55b2ab6bc0fa5ba237401047a06b54bb21fb69619eb05422540cc1e23f6f1f62678e484aefc07c6__;!!OToaGQ!srmlSHTpu6R0xu02-UhDlIRBLrp5tpzYQ6Bnby8n97ezK3K50DDVA2RmJ8PlS9CPbZez6CMlapDfnY8r18_QSvRwY_KJ$> to hear:

  * How your community can improve health and equity by bringing kids closer to nature

  * What you can do to integrate nature into all schools and communities

  * Why children's connection with nature supports climate resilience

Everyone in the United States, no matter their zip code, should be able to experience the benefits of nature. From stimulating healthy child development, to increasing community engagement and reducing stress, interacting with nature can enrich the lives of people of all ages. How can we begin to make this aspiration a reality? Green schoolyards.

Spaces that invite children and communities to engage with nature—sometimes known as green school grounds—can help close health equity gaps and encourage kids to become stewards and designers of their environments, while convincing local leaders to follow suit for entire communities.

While funding and building new parks is crucial, this approach on its own will not reverse park inequities. We need to ensure everyone, everywhere, can visit a park nearby to truly reap the health, social, and environmental benefits of these vital public spaces. We need policy solutions to increase park access in all neighborhoods.

The People, Parks, and Power initiative, a joint effort of RWJF and Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, led and managed by Prevention Institute is working with 14 community-based organizations in urban, low-income communities of color across the nation to increase access to parks and green space. They're building community power and advocating for local policy and systems change. Working together we can advance national momentum toward an equitable future, addressing community priorities central to the environment, health, and racial justice.

When we address the long-standing inequities that exist in the distribution and quality of parks, our neighborhoods will be stronger and all people healthier.

We all want to live in safe, stable communities that empower us to live healthier lives. But climate change is making life less predictable.

People across the country are exploring how climate change harms health, deepens inequity, and what their communities are doing to ensure a healthier future.

Ten pairs of friends, family, and loved ones across the United States met to record conversations about how their health and the health of their communities are being impacted by climate change.
