Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association is excited to announce the start of our
Strayhorn Branch Stream Enhancement construction at our Pearl Mill Nature
Preserve along the South Ellerbe Creek Greenway! This stream enhancement
will reshape the stream banks to a healthy, more natural slope, and create
lots of places for urban stream wildlife to live.

Join us for a virtual Q&A on Thursday, June 8th at 7 PM

to learn more about this project as we prepare to begin construction. We
will start with a short presentation with project details, timeline,
impacts, and benefits, then have plenty of time for attendees to ask us
their questions.

Strayhorn Branch drains 11 acres of downtown Durham and flows into South
Ellerbe Creek. This project will have significant benefits that include:

   -

   Stabilizing the eroding stream banks
   -

   Establishing native plant species
   -

   Providing neighbors and trail users with more access to the creek

However, there will be major visual impacts during construction. We will
share information about what people can expect when visiting Pearl Mill
Nature Preserve, using the South Ellerbe Greenway, or traveling along Green
Street.
