City of Durham Announces Service Changes for Juneteenth



DURHAM, N.C. - Most City of Durham offices, including City Hall and all non-emergency City facilities and operations, will close to the public on Monday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth.



Curbside Solid Waste Collections

  *   The Solid Waste Management Department<https://durhamnc.gov/832/Solid-Waste-Management> will close on Monday, June 19.
  *   All curbside collections for garbage, recycling, and yard waste will be delayed by one business day with Friday yard waste customers receiving their curbside collections on Monday, June 26.
  *   The Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, Yard Waste Facility, and the Household Hazardous Waste Center<https://durhamnc.gov/898/Disposal-Facilities> will close on Monday, June 19.
  *   To sign up for collection day alerts and holiday service change reminders, visit the department's webpage<https://durhamnc.gov/3025/Find-Your-Collection-Day> or download their free Durham Rollout app<https://www.durhamnc.gov/832/Solid-Waste-Management>.

City Council Meeting

  *   The City Council regular business meeting<https://www.durhamnc.gov/Calendar.aspx?EID=7536> is re-scheduled for Tuesday, June 20 beginning at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall.

Parks and Recreation

  *   Durham Parks and Recreation<https://www.dprplaymore.org/> (DPR) will close its administrative office and all facilities on Monday, June 19.
  *   Athletic fields and picnic shelters are available for rent, and City lakes, outdoor pools, and spraygrounds will operate under their regular schedules.

Downtown Parking

  *   The Park Durham Customer Service Center<https://www.parkdurham.org/> will close on Monday, June 19.
  *   On City-designated holidays, downtown parking is free in on-street parking spaces, in some City-owned parking garages, and in City-owned surface parking lots.
  *   To check the Special Event Parking Schedule, where the $7 per vehicle rate goes into effect in the Durham Centre, Corcoran Street and Church Street garages 90 minutes before scheduled events, visit the Special Event Parking Calendar<https://parkdurham.org/calendar.aspx>.


GoDurham and GoDurham ACCESS

     *   Leave a message at (919) 560-1200.

Water and Sewer Emergencies

  *   Water main break<https://durhamnc.gov/1344/Report-Water-Main-Breaks> and sewer overflow<https://durhamnc.gov/1346/Report-Sewer-Overflows-Backups> calls for service placed after-hours, on weekends or on City-recognized holidays should be directed to the Water Management Department's after-hours emergency number at (919) 560-4344, which will dispatch on-call crews.
