Sunday, November 19th is the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic
Victims. This year, we will remember the loss of *thirty-nine**
(3**9**)* *individuals
who have died in road crashes in Durham County since last November*, and
the many more who have been injured. Eleven of those killed since last
November were people walking and two were riding bikes.

We will gather at Elmira Park (540 Elmira Avenue near Fayetteville
Elementary) from 4:30 - 5:30pm.

The program will include remarks from me, from city of Durham
transportation director Sean Egan, from NC Board of Transportation member
Lisa Mathis, and other invited dignitaries. Bike Durham Advocacy Campaign
Organizer Surrayyah Chestnut will read Bike Durham's policy demands.

This will be followed by a candle-lighting ceremony. Rita McDaniel, whose
nephew Shon McDaniel was killed while walking across Fayetteville Street on
May 22nd, will read the names and dates of those who have been killed since
last November.

We hope that you will join us for this important gathering. We ask that you
let us know if you're coming by registering with this link
