County Solid Waste to Host Electronics Recycling Drop Off
Participants at June 1 event must have current County solid waste decal

Durham, N.C. - Residents in the unincorporated parts of Durham County are invited to an Electronics Recycling Drop Off event to properly dispose of broken or outdated electronic equipment in an effort to keep these items out of our environment. The Solid Waste Division of Durham County General Services will offer an opportunity to the community to safely drop off electronics on Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 8 a.m. until noon, at the Northern Durham Convenience Site.

The site, located at 11894 N. Roxboro Road, will accept the following at the upcoming Electronics Recycling Drop Off event: televisions, stereo equipment, gaming consoles, computers, monitors, laptops, keyboards, printers, CPU, speakers, telephones, cell phones, fax machines, kitchen electronics, power tools, cordless tools, hair dryers, curling irons, alarm clocks, etc.

One of the fastest growing waste streams in the world is computer and electronic waste, or e-waste. With the rapid proliferation of new technology, oftentimes the choice to dispose of an item comes often. Many of these items contain harmful toxins or are made of materials that don't easily break down and can be dangerous to humans, wildlife, and our ecosystems.

The center will NOT accept commercially generated waste at this event.
