>From a poll worker:

“What I have seen at the early voting site I am at and hope you are hearing
from the observers at the polls is that a few people are leaving without
voting because of ID issues, but everyone is leaving with a plan.

Some issues::

   - People with only a *paper copy of their driver's license* because they
are waiting on their new one. Mostly they can vote because they have their
old license (which is good for a year after it expires) and, if they are
registering and need something with their current address, the paper
license is good for proving one's address.
   - People who have long been registered in Durham, but are driving
on an* out-of-state
license*. The plan in this case is to get to the BOE to get a free
   voter ID (https://www.ncsbe.gov/voting/voter-id/get-free-voter-photo-id)
which is good for 10 years. The website says most people will get an ID
right away and can then vote at the BOE site. I'm not sure what the "most
voters" means so someone in that situation should get the ID this week.
Someone who has work/school that prevents them from getting to BOE during
business hours or has transportation issues, they can do "reasonable
   impediment" provisional voting.
   - *Leases* don't count for proof of address in registering unless the
lease clearly says some utility in included in the lease. Most people can
find something either on their phones or in the papers they have that will
   work (here is the list:
   https://www.ncsbe.gov/registering/how-register/register-person-during-early-voting),
but a few needed to go home to find something.”

DON’T LET THE ID THING KEEP YOU OR ANYONE ELSE FROM VOTING.
