Tax Payment Deadline Approaching for Durham County Residents
Tax Administration encourages residents to avoid penalties by paying by Jan. 6, 2025

Durham, N.C. – As the upcoming tax deadline approaches, the Durham County Tax Administration<https://www.dconc.gov/county-departments/departments-f-z/tax-administration> encourages citizens to prepare for tax payments for real and tangible personal property taxes for tax year 2024. The deadline to pay tax bills to avoid interest, fees, liens, and collection enforcement actions is Monday January 6, 2025. According to North Carolina Statute § 105‑369<https://www.ncleg.gov/EnactedLegislation/Statutes/PDF/BySection/Chapter_105/GS_105-369.pdf>, real estate taxes that remain unpaid will be advertised.

There are multiple ways for taxpayers to make payment<https://www.dconc.gov/county-departments/departments-f-z/tax-administration/collections-payments-billing/payment-options>. Research your bill and pay online using a shopping cart by, visiting the Durham County Tax Administration’s Tax Bill Search portal here<https://here>.

Taxes may be paid by mailing the payment stub from the bottom of the tax bill and ensuring the address shows in the envelope provided. If you do not have your payment stub, make your check payable and remit it to:

(Taxpayers should include their account number and parcel ID on their check.)

Payments may be made in person at the Tax Administration Office which is located on the 3rd floor of the Administration Building II at 201 East Main Street in downtown Durham

Property owners can pay their property taxes using their checking account information. You will need your routing number and checking account number to process through e-check. There is no convenience fee when making an e-check payment.

Taxpayers can also pay their property taxes with a credit or debit card via the Internet or by telephone. Credit card payments will require a payment in full; there are no partial payments accepted using the credit card method. Please note that you will be charged a convenience fee for this service.

Durham County Tax Administration wants to help ensure that all property owners are aware of property tax relief programs<https://www.dconc.gov/county-departments/departments-f-z/tax-administration/property-tax-relief-programs> that may benefit them. They are:


  *   Elderly/Disabled/Homestead Exemption
  *   Circuit Breaker-Elderly/Disabled Deferment Program
  *   Disabled Veteran Exclusion
