The City is proposing to pump water from a portion of the Eno during high flow and to store it in Teer Quarry for a future drinking water supply.
The quarry was owned by Hanson Aggregates. It's at the end of Denfield St, north of Horton, south of Infinity & east of Roxboro. </span></font></div><div style=""><font face="verdana, sans-serif"><span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);letter-spacing:-0.32px;white-space:pre-wrap">
The problem is the groundwater near the quarry is contaminated with several chemical compounds, including benzene, a known carcinogen, and 1,4-dioxane, a likely carcinogen.
