In case you missed it...</div><div><br></div><div>There's an op-ed in today's INDY that fleshes out some of the concerns raised regarding the proposed 87 page text amendment, "<span style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:Lora,sans-serif;font-size:18px">Simplifying Codes for more Affordable Development" (</span><span>SCAD amendment) that is on City Council agenda for March 20th.</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>SCAD is a privately-initiated text amendment proposed by Jim Anthony, CEO of a large commercial real estate investment company, living in Raleigh; yet it seeks to change Durham's UDO.</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>To give some perspective, the large majority of text amendments that go to Council are less than 10 pages, and according to an earlier article from the INDY it was written by "</span><span style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:Lora,sans-serif;font-size:18px">team of local practitioners whom Anthony hired (and declined to identify) took that on. Anthony and the writer team declined the </span><span style="box-sizing:inherit;font-style:italic;color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:Lora,sans-serif;font-size:18px">INDY</span><span style="color:rgb(17,17,17);font-family:Lora,sans-serif;font-size:18px">’s interview requests and wouldn’t answer specific questions related to community concerns...</span></div><div><br></div>
