After 5 days of early voting, 1842 people have cast votes at early voting. This is a Durham City Municipal election, the number of registered voters in Durham County is approximately 204,000 and about 90% of the residents of Durham County live in the city,
so I am guessing this is a turn-out of about 1% so far. Therefore, we will most likely beat Charlotte's 5% turnout (which obviously isn't saying much!)</div>

There are new improved machines to mark ballots for folks who are visually impaired or whose hands don't work as well as they used to. (Please use them so we get more experience with them before next year). </div>

The folks checking you in may ask what year you were born in before they ask your address, especially if you have a common name like John Williams. Every year there is a mix-up or 2 of members of the same household (dad has voted but Junior is the one marked
in roles as having voted), and they are hoping this will reduce the errors. I guess at least some people are more embarrassed at giving their middle name than their birth year anyhow (-:</div>
