DURHAM COUNTY TEACHES THE ART AND SCIENCE OF PRUNING

Durham, N.C. – Experienced gardeners are aware of how fruit tree pruning
increases light channels to the tree; improving the tree’s overall growth
and ability to produce better fruit.  The Durham County Center for the
North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service (NCCES) is teaming up with
the South Eastern Efforts Developing Sustainable Spaces, Inc. (SEEDS) to
offer a free Fruit Tree Pruning Demonstration Workshop on Sunday, February
24 from 2:00p.m. - 4:00p.m.

Workshop attendees will learn the basics and challenges of fruit tree
production in their home gardens.  The hands on workshop will be held at
the SEEDS Community Garden, 706 Gilbert Street.  Residents interested in
learning the art and science of successful pruning should pre-register by
calling 919-560-0525.
