City of Durham Seeks Historic DAP Photos

Photos Needed by Feb. 28 to Ensure Historic Accuracy in Upcoming
Renovation


Durham, N.C. - To ensure the upcoming renovation of the historic Durham
Athletic Park (DAP) properly reflects its history, the City of Durham is
searching for all types of photographs from the early days in the 1930s
to the later years of the 1990s.  

 

According to Beth Hickman Emerson, manager of the Project Management
Division with the City's Department of General Services, citizens who
have either black-and-white or color photographs are encouraged to
submit them by Thursday, February 28, 2008, to be considered for project
design needs.  

 

"We want all types of photos, but especially photos depicting interior
shots of the grandstand, clubhouses, locker rooms, entry plaza, offices,
broadcasting booth and concession areas," Emerson said.  "We want to
make the renovation of the DAP as true-to-form as possible and we have
been unable to locate photos of these particular areas of the DAP in our
records searching.  If our citizens have any photos, we'd love to
receive them for consideration in the renovation design process."

 

According to Emerson, citizens are asked to submit the date the
photograph(s) was taken, if at all possible, along with their complete
contact information (name, mailing address and phone number) so the
photograph(s) can be returned by May 15, 2008.

 

Photographs may be submitted by U.S. Mail or scanned and submitted via
e-mail to the following addresses:
