A Nonprofit Volunteer Citizens Advisory Board, established in 1975

The Friends of West Point is looking to expand its membership base and is seeking interested individuals to serve on the board for a two-year term. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month from 7:00 - 8:30 PM in the Museum of Photography building at West Point.

About West Point Park:

West Point on the Eno is a Durham City Heritage Park, located along a two-mile stretch of the scenic Eno River, six miles north of downtown Durham.

The park provides opportunities for recreational activities such as hiking, picnicking, fishing, canoeing, and outdoor nature studies.

At the park, you can visit a working Gristmill, the 1850's McCown-Mangum House, and the Hugh Mangum Museum of Photography.

These historic buildings are open to the public mid-March through mid-December, on Saturdays and Sundays between 1:00 and 5:00 PM.

The Friends of West Point's objectives are:

¨ To maintain the 404-acre West Point Park in cooperation with the City of Durham and other local organizations for development according to the Park's Master Plan.

¨

.

To facilitate the ability of groups and individuals to contribute to the establishment and maintenance of West Point Park through the contribution of money, time, and materials.

¨ To promote educational, environmental, conservation and other programs which are consistent with the concepts of neighborhood, regional, and watershed planning, the Master Plan, and the Durham Wildlife Inventory document.
