One Stop No Excuse Absentee Voting started today at  9:00am at the Board of Elections Office located at 706 W. Corporation Street.   
 
Voters who are registered as Democrats will be able to vote for the Democratic Commissioner of Labor and the School Board At-Large Races.  Voters who are registered as Republicans will be able to vote for the School Board at Large Race.  Voters who are registered as Unaffiliated MAY CHOOSE the Democratic or the non-partisan ballot. Unaffiliated voters who choose a party ballot will not change their registration, they will remain Unaffiliated.
 
17 year old voters who are registered and will be 18 on or before November 4, 2008, may vote the in the partisan primary.
 
One Stop No Excuse Absentee Voting schedule through Saturday June 21:
Thursday through Fri    Jun 5-6            9 am-5:00 pm    
Monday through Fri     Jun 9-13           9 am-5:00 pm
Monday through Fri     Jun 16-20         9am-5:00pm
Sat                                Jun 21               9am-1:00pm                                                            
 
SAME DAY REGISTRATION: Voters are now allowed to register and vote at one stop sites. It is quicker and easier to register in advance, but if you have not registered you can do so at one stop with proper identification. (This same day registration is not allowed at the precincts on Election Day)
 
All registered voters residing in Durham County are eligible and encouraged to vote in this election.  Voters who are currently registered need not re-register.  Information regarding registration, polling locations, absentee voting, or other election matters may be obtained by contacting the Board of Elections.
 
SPECIAL NOTE:  3 precincts are unavailable on the 24th.   ONE TIME ONLY, the following voters will go to a different polling place:
 
Normal-Yates Baptist Church---go to Rogers Herr Middle School,911 Cornwallis
 
Normal-White Rock Baptist Church—go to Weaver Street Rec. Center, 3000 Weaver Street.
 
Normal-CC Spaulding Elementary School—go to Forest Hills Club House,1639 University Dr.
