INC NEWS - And now coming to North Durham....more denudification

The issue at hand:

The residents of Felicia Street met in good faith with the applicant and did not oppose this considerably higher density project with the promise and expectation that Felicia Street would connect to Summer Meadows and provide additional entry and exit for the residents of Felicia Street. 

Now at the 11th hour and final phase of this project, the developer's summary report states," it was determined..." that the construction of the roadway and bridge would result in flooding for Felicia St. Just what is the 'it' that determined this? This last minute "revelation" appears to be a "bait and switch" tactic from Beazer coupled with another favorite, "divide and conquer", by proposing a scenario that pits the welfare of one side of Felicia Street against the other side.  

It is hard not to believe that Beazer had no intention of honoring their commitment and waited until the vast majority of the project was completed before "discovering" this alleged problem. Afterall, Beazer Homes is or has been under federal investigation for their business practices, information readily available on-line in  "Business Week" and other reliable news sources. 

Additionally, according to the staff report, Summer Meadows is listed in the Suburban Tier as Low Density (4 DUA or less) yet the PDR is 4.69. Furthermore, Summer Meadows falls far short of the goals defined by a PDR development...no high quality design, just more stack and pack. 

Please ask your county commissioners to hold Beazer Homes accountable to the citizens of Felicia Street and deny this request:
