At the August 26th meeting of INC, an initial resolution was presented before the delegates.

While there was a small discussion and some modifications made to the resolution, little information was provided to those present on what affect it would have on the many parties involved in the decision making process and how the neighborhoods present at INC could help further facilitate passing up to date and accurate information on to their constituent neighborhood and homeowner associations.

Over the past several weeks a number of discussions have taken place to even further clarify the positions of those parties of interest.

The posting below (from the WHHNA listserve) is being forwarded to help facilitate the discussion.

Dave Owen, a board member of Friends of West Point on the Eno Park, asked me to post this response to the questions below from Nancye Kirtley:

the owner of black meadow ridge has agreed to sell to the n.c. state parks system at fair market or appraised value. state park officials have stated that there is funding in the present fiscal year budget to purchase the property at appraised value, if the durham city council gives them the go ahead and is willing to agree to transfer the management of west point park to the state. durham's general assembly representative, mr. paul luebke, has also informed the friends of west point park that if durham city government and the n.c parks system come to an agreement on this issue, that he is prepared to present the request for the purchase of black meadow ridge to the n.c. legislature when it convenes in january. for a more complete explanation, please see http://fowpp.org/25201.html. the final outcome of all this would be that the eno river state park would simply extend its border eastward two miles form guess road to north roxboro street and black meadow ridge would be fully protected as a part of it.

This question may have already been covered and I just missed it.

How will the State taking over the park prevent the 60 acres in question, which are adjacent to the park, from being built upon? Has the State agreed to buy that parcel of land and have the owners agreed to sell it to the State?
