Durham Hosts Public Meeting for New Skateboard Park Design Input


Durham, N.C. - Durham residents interested in having their voices heard
on the design of the new Durham Skateboard Park will get their chance at
an upcoming public meeting.

 

The City of Durham's Department of General Services is hosting a public
meeting where attendees will receive a presentation and then have an
opportunity to provide input and ideas as the City kicks off the design
phase for the new park.  

 

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 30, 2008, from 7 p.m. to
9 p.m. in the Committee Room, located on the second floor of City Hall
at 101 City Hall Plaza, Durham.  The meeting will be attended by a team
of design consultants which include Pillar Design Studios, Stewart
Engineers, and Artisan Skate Parks.

 

The City Council recently approved a $371,600 design-build agreement for
the Durham Skateboard Park with the joint venture team of Lumina
Builders, Inc. and Pillar Design Studios.  The park will be located
within Durham Central Park at 502 Foster Street and will cover an
approximately 10,000-to-12,000 square foot area.  The park is scheduled
to begin construction in the fall of 2009 and be finished in the fall of
2010.
