I concur with Mr Griffin. We just can't be Goodwill. Even when we only picked up by appointment we disposed of items.

Mr. Long and Ms. Cox,

There are viable options available for the reuse of useable household items. 
It does require that residents assume responsibility by placing a call to 
one of the Durham charitable organizations.  Many will pick up these items 
or accept them (if delivered) at their facility.

The city already has the swap shop available for the community.  I 
understand that one persons trash may be another persons treasure but it 
must not become a functional responsibility of Mr. Long or any other city 
department to look at every item in our trash or bulk items.  If bulky items 
are placed at the curb by our fellow residents; they have exercised their 
choice.
