Durham JobLink Center Grand Opening at Northgate Mall June 20

Ceremony Kicks Off FOX 50/Durham JobLink 2011 Career Expo Scheduled for June 21-22 at Northgate Mall

 

What:              Grand Opening Ceremony for Durham JobLink Career Center at Northgate Mall

 

Who:               Durham Workforce Development Board, Durham JobLink Career Center, and the City of Durham Office of Economic and Workforce Development

Fast Facts:

·         The new Durham JobLink Career Center at Northgate Mall now operates Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. It offers a full array of employment services at this newest location, such as providing job referrals, helping conduct job searches, and submitting online applications. 

 

·         To celebrate the grand opening of this new center, a ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned and will feature several guest speakers, including N.C. Department of Commerce Executive Director of Workforce Development Roger J. Shackleford, City Council Member Farad Ali, County Commissioner Brenda Howerton, and City of Durham Office of Economic and Workforce Development Director Kevin Dick. 

 

·         On Tuesday, June 21, the FOX 50/Durham JobLink 2011 Career Expo at Northgate Mall will offer free workshops from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to jobseekers and employers.

o   The workshops for jobseekers are designed to help those searching for employment. Workshop topics will range from interviewing etiquette tips to understanding how credit ratings may impact employment opportunities.

o   The workshops for employers are designed to help employers with employment issues faced by their companies, such as Employing and retaining an aging workforce to How to work with recruitment agencies.

 

·         On Wednesday, June 22, the FOX 50/Durham JobLink 2011 Career Expo at Northgate Mall continues with a job fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. During this event, 30 employers will be recruiting in multiple career fields, including healthcare, information technology, and security. Jobseekers should dress to impress and bring résumés for distribution.  

o   To attend the job fair, jobseekers must register in front of Sears to receive a passport to enter. Local community service providers as well as educational and training vendors will be present. 

o   This event is sponsored by Fox 50, Durham JobLink Career Center, Durham County Department of Social Services, and Northgate Mall.
